Bollywood actor Salman Khan is usually branded as a brat by the Bollywood crowd. But there is a philanthropic angle to his personality. He runs his own NGO, Salman Khan Foundation, and the proceeds of all his paintings go towards social causes.
Salman Khan was shooting for Boney Kapoor’s “Wanted…Dead or Alive” at Bandra Fort. While on the shoot, he recognized a beggar on the street. He went up to him, and asked him if he was the same person who used to sell kites at Band Stand, Bandra a long time ago. The beggar answered him in the affirmative.
Salman used to buy kites from him as a child while he was growing up at Bandra’s Band Stand about 20 years ago. He gave the beggar Rs. 25,000 and bought him food and clothes. The beggar and former kite seller was mighty pleased at the unexpected bonanza.
