Sachin Tendulkar nominated to Rajya Sabha
Sachin Tendulkar, who recently accomplished the feat of scoring 100 international 100s, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Yesterday, Sachin, accompanied by his wife Anjali, called on the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath, New Delhi.
Along with Sachin, yesteryear star Rekha and Anu Aga, businesswoman, social activist and Chairperson of Teach For India, have also been nominated to the Upper House.
It is learnt that Sachin gave his nod a week ago for being nominated as MP. A formal signature of the President of India is awaited before Sachin, Rekha and Aga take oath as Members of Rajya Sabha.
Sachin’s acceptance of being nominated as Member of Parliament sparked a fresh wave of speculation that the master blaster may soon announce his retirement from cricket.
