Rock On is a celluloid symphony, very sensitively and sensibly orchestrated. This film deals with the beautiful experiences of its characters and their journey to achieve a common goal.
Rock On tells the story of Aditya(Farhan Akhtar),Joe Mascarenhas (Arjun Rampal) , Rob(Luke Kenny) and K.D.(Purab Kohli) who want their band MAGIK to be the best in the world.
Aditya Shroff, the Lead Vocalist, from Delhi leaves the comforts of his parents’ home to chase his dream of becoming a singer in a rock band. Joe Mascarenhas, the Lead Guitarist, an idealist and a man of few words, lets his guitar do the talking. Kedar Zaveri, the Drummer, is from a successful family of jewelers. Rob Nancy, Keyboardist, is a quiet trouble shooter making his keyboard an extension of his thoughts.
In spite of their best endeavours MAGIK doesn’t click. The four go their separate ways. But by a conniving conspiracy of circumstances, the four friends meet to resurrect MAGIK and realize their dream.
Farhan Akhtar is simply superb. His debut as an actor will be remembered for a long time. Arjun Rampal has come out of age. His performance tastes like the finest and best wine. Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli are the surprise package. They simply lived their roles.
Koel Purie, Shahana Goswami and Nicolette Bird have given extremely convincing performances.
Though there is no story that conforms to regular Bollywood mould, the story of Rock On has been splendidly told by writer and director Abhishek Kapoor through an imaginative screenplay.
Cinematography by Jason West and Editing by Deepa Bhatia are quite close to international level. Music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy simply rocks.
Rock On is such a splendid cinematic experience that you will miss, if you don’t see the film. It is a beautiful story told with superb visuals, sensational music, sensitive moods, sensible scenes and surprisingly natural incidents.
Rock On is a must see for the sheer celluloid symphony that makes you feel that you have done a good deed.
