Ram Gopal Varma is said to be getting threatening phone calls on the eve of his forthcoming film Bejawada which is due for release on November 24.
The Naga Chaitanya-Amala Paul starrer, which is being directed by debutant Vivek Krishna, a protégé of RGV, was initially given the title Bejawad Rowdeelu.
There was a big uproar in Vijayawada over the title and political goons disrupted the shooting of the film there. There was also court case filed over the title. Subsequently, RGV changed the title to Bejawada.
It is learnt that Vijayawada politicians suspect that the film is based on the infamous murder of Vangaveeti Ranga and the film may show some politicians in poor light as has happened with RGV’s film Rakta Charitra which was based on the Paritala Ravi assassination.
