Producer Soundarya Ashwin, daughter of Rajinikanth and director K.S. Ravikumar have clarified that Rajinikanth’s forthcoming film Rana is not a rip off of the earlier animation film Sultan the Warrior which was made in collaboration with Warner Bros Entertainment. The animation film will be completed and released later. They clarified that Rana and Sultan the Warrior are two different films with the former being live action and the latter an animation film.
Soundarya stated that Rana is a historical film set in the 17th century and Rajinikanth will play three different roles. Since three heroines are required, talks are being held with the Rekha, Ileana, Trisha, Vidya Balan, Hema Malini and others. She said that so far only Deepika Padukone has been finalised and signed.
Director K.S. Ravikumar said that the script is being fine-tuned and once it is finalised, it would be known what length of screen space would be available for the other two heroines. Accordingly, the actresses will be finalised. The film is likely to go on floors in August.
