Rajamouli Breaks The Jinx With National Award To ‘Bahubali, The Beginning’

Director Rajamouli had brought out the audience in general, directors and producers in particular from their perspective that the Telugu films should be like this alone. Films like ‘Magadheera, Eega and Maryada Ramanna’ proved this. Now, with his film Bahubali, he took the Telugu cinema 100 steps ahead. Everyone thought that all the records of the Tollywood would break once ‘Bahubali’ hits the screen and the film had reached their expectations and collected over Rs 600 crore across the globe. The film made everyone talk about the movie. It had increased the prestige of the Telugu cinema across the globe. It gave an honour to the Telugu cinema in the nation. Rajamouli proved that the Telugu cinema too could do wonders with the help of technical know-how. As a result, it gave a visual feast to the entire Indian cinema industry. The hard work of Bahubali team was recognised by the national film award’s jury and finally bagged the National Best Film Award. The national film awards were introduced in 1954 and ‘Bahubali’, a Telugu film, was adjudged as the National Best Film after a gap of 62 years. This is for the first time a Telugu film had bagged such a great honour. There are several great films in the Telugu film industry. ‘Sankarabharanam, Swatimuthyam, Sagara Sangamam and Swathi Kiranam’ directed by Viswanath, ‘Mutyalamuggu’ directed by Bapu, ‘Megha Sandesam’ by Dasari Narayana Rao, ‘Annamayya’ by K Raghavendra Rao… and many more great films have come up in Telugu. But none of them had reached the pinnacle and got the National Best Film award. The standards of the Telugu cinema had come down and even the Telugu films failed to get the best regional film awards from 2009 to 2011. At this juncture, ‘Eega’ directed by Rajamouli bagged the best regional film award besides a national award for visual effects. Next Naa Bangaru Talli and Chandamama Kathalu bagged the best regional film awards. Now, Bahubali proved the best film at national level.
