Rahman’s Song For Olympics Opening Ceremony

British filmmaker Danny Boyle, who is in-charge of conducting the opening ceremony of London Olympics next month, has roped in AR Rahman to compose a track to be used in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games opening day festivities on July 27.

The opening ceremony also showcases an episode on world music in which Ilayaraja’s composition Naandhaan Ungappanda..(from the 1981 film Ram Lakshman, starring Kamal Haasan and Sripriya) will be played.

AR Rahman got his Oscars for Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. He also scored music for Boyle’s film 127 Hours which was also nominated for the Academy Awards. The Oscar winning director and music maestro are also working together for another project which will start sometime in October.
