Punnami Nagu Movie Review

The Film
Punnami Nagu propagates the myth that spineless creeping poisonous creatures can redeem this world of spine-erected humans from the doomsday Armageddon.

It is so sad that the powerful AV media, in the name of cinematic fiction, resurrects suspicious half-truths as the basic fundamentals of life.

The Synopsis

Karjari (Nalini), a sorceress witch, has ambitions to be the uncrowned queen of this world through the magical powers of the nagamani (cobra pearl) from two creeping beauties of the underworld. An ardent Black magic practitioner Namboodri (Sajid Khan) also tries to grab the same. Karjari ropes in the knowledge of researchers (Vinodkumar, Varni, Lochan) to locate the male-female snake pair.

In the confusion and conflict to get the cobra pearl, on a pournami ( full moon night), the male snake bites the bullet and the female snake escapes.

Karjari provokes the gang to get hold of a girl with a unique birth-mark, who happens to be the human manifestation of the female snake.

The gang starts kidnapping girls from hostels in their search for the human nagin. An Assistant Commissioner of Police (Nizhalgal Ravi) arrests the kidnappers with the help of his daughter (Mumait Khan). The ACP is liquidated by the gang and grievously injuring his daughter.

Small time offenders of law (Rajiv Kanakala and Srinivasa Reddy) rescue her and get her treated in a hospital.
The rest of the story deals with the conflict and its resolution between the character of Mumaith and that of nagin.

The Techniques
The usual cinema-crafts are skillfully used, the highlight being the splendid cinematography and of course the visual special effects.

The Verdict
Punnami Nagu deserves a look-in when you have nothing worthy enough to do.
