Pro-Reservation activists attack Prakash Jha’s house

The film Aarakshan, based on caste-based reservations in the Indian education system, made by Prakash Jha is becoming the target of politicians who apprehend that the film may be anti-reservation.

Unknown elements have attacked the house and office of Prakash Jha in Mumbai who say that the film should not be released. Republican Party of India (RPI) chief Ramdas Athavale had earlier said that his party will not let theaters in Maharashtra screen the movie if it does not change its anti-Dalit stance. Even the National Commission of Scheduled Castes (NCSC) also termed the film anti-Dalit.

Aarakshan, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpai and Prateik Babbar, has been cleared by the Censor Board and is due for release on August 12.
