Mary Kom opened up to collecting a very huge some and the film’s lead actress Priyanka Chopra doesn’t want her film to be pitted against big ones. She says that ‘our film is already successful’ and hopes that ‘it sets an example that even female centric films can do well’.
Whn asked about her feelings when the film will enter Rs. 100 crore club she replied, “ Please! Don’t put such pressure on us. Ours is a small film and don’t compare us with big boys. Our film is already successful and I only hope that it sets an example that even female centric films can do well. I don’t know what our destiny is, but I don’t want to put such pressure on our film.” Said Priyanka who is appreciated from all the quarters for portraying the role of boxing champion M.C. Mary Kom convincingly on the big screen. This film is directed by Omung Kumar and was released on September 5th and till Tuesday it has managed to collect Rs. 38.95 crore at the box office. The film is running smoothly. However, there was a drop in collection on Monday due to Ganesh Visarjan in Mumbai which accounts for 40 percent of the total market share, as said by a source from the production house.
According to Priyanka the film has opened well and this is a huge relief for her. Now she is waiting to watch how it survives in the second week.
Priyanka has turned producer with ‘Madam ji’ which will be directed by Madhur Bhandarkar is of the view that she has yet to understand the number game but hopes to learn the job.
In her words, “I am a creative person and I get confused with the number game. I have a very strong team. Eventually when you make a film, it will be a learning experience.
Mary Kom is getting appreciation from all the sectors and its makers are confident that since English language Bollywood entertainer ‘Finding Fanny’ is a niche offering it will not affect much of the collection of Mary Kom when it will hit the theatres on Friday.
