Madonna, the Material Girl, turns 50 on August 16, 2008. So are most of Hollywood icons: Prince, Michael Jackson, Sharon Stone, Alec Baldwin and Paddington Bear.
However, the pop diva seems to be unfazed by the age factor. She is planning to go on a hectic world tour.
Madonna broke off with her long-standing record company Warner Brothers to sign a big deal with concert promoters Live Nation. She released her new album Hard Candy this year that hit the number one spot in 37 countries. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Presently based in London, Madonna also produced a documentary about the plight of AIDS orphans in Malawi. She also made her debut as a director with Fifth and Wisdom, which was premiered at the Berlin Film Festival.
Madonna arrived in New York in the late 1970’s with just $35 in her pocket and struggled all the way to the top of the world of music and entertainment.
Looks like nothing changes much with Madonna, even if she turns 50 ! She seems to be destined to be at the top.
