Oo Kodathara Ulikki Padathara is an intense family drama with supernatural twists, horror thrills and romcom frills.
There is an old palace Gandharva Mahal, which belonged to the royal Naidu dynasty, and is presently occupied by the present scion (Prabhu) of the royal family. He rents out portions of the palace. A young man (Manoj) is the latest tenant. He helps the landlord by getting some non-rent paying tenants evicted. He is also in love with the landlord’s younger daughter (Deeksha Seth).
There was a powerful king (Balakrishna) of this dynasty in yesteryears, who never wanted to part with this Gandharva Mahal and it is widely believed that his spirit resides in this palace itself. The present scion makes arrangements for the marriage of his elder daughter (Madhumitha) and he wants to give his son-in-law the Gandharva Mahal as dowry.
Then all hell breaks lose. The flashback reveals a part of the past history of the dynasty. The rest is how the past has a bearing on the present events at the palace.
Manchu Manoj has come out with the best performance of his career. Balakrishna is impressive in his extended royal cameo. Deeksha Seth is glamour personified. Lakshmi Prasanna has given a stunning performance and she steals the show. Suhasini is her usual self. Sonu Sood again excels as the baddie. Prabhu and Sai Kumar are convincing. All others do well in their author backed roles.
Sekhar Raja has a good story to tell and he told it in an interesting manner. The screenplay sufficiently speeds up the narrative flow to keep the audience interested. The dialogues are meaningful and appropriate to the characters. Music by Bobo Sasi is good and the songs are picturised well. Background score by Chinna is effective. The Art department has come out with apt props. Action scenes are quite thrilling. Cinematography is vivid and vibrant. Editing is crisp. The special visual effects are superb. Production values are high.
Oo Kodathara Ulikki Padathara is a well made film with a different style of presentation and enough thrills and laughs to entertain.
