No Tollywood Dhamaka on Diwali 2011

Tollywood, which boasts of a world-record of producing the maximum number of films (150+) per year, and year after year, has no release at all for this year’s Diwali, which is an auspicious festival for the film industry.

Only two dubbed films G-1 and 7th Sense ( Telugu dubbed versions of Shah Rukh Khan’s Hindi film Ra.One and Surya’s Tamil film 7am Arivu respectively) released on Diwali and are being lapped up by the cinema-crazy Telugu audience. Both the films are hi-tech sci-fi films and the action sequences and VSFX are being appreciated by the discerning audience.

In stead of making good films and releasing them, Telugu Film Producers Council (TFPC) president Burgupalli Sivaramakrishna, laments about dubbing films flooding the AP theaters.

While Tollywood film producers want a ban or some sort limitation on the number of dubbed films, the distributors and exhibitors oppose the idea as the dubbed films, particularly the Tamil movies, are raking in moolah for them.
