Neeku Naaku Dash Dash Movie Review
Neeku Naaku Dash Dash is an underdog romantic story of the less privileged in the backdrop of the vicious illegal liquor trade.
Owing to a conspiracy of circumstances, Shiva (Prince) joins as a worker in the illegal liquor distillation plant run by Bapineedu (Choudary) who is assisted by his concubine (Thirtha) and accountant (Parachuri Venkateswar Rao). Bapineedu is politically connected and the inspector of police (Banerjee) cannot do anything to stop the activities of illegal liquor trade. Gayathri (Nandita), who works in the same plant, and Shiva fall in love in unexpected circumstances. The unforeseen murder of a co-worker creates a situation where Shiva and Gayathri are forced to run away with goons of Bapineedu and the police in hot pursuit of them. How the lovers overcome their travails forms the rest of the story.
Newcomers Prince and Nandita acquit themselves well. Nandita in particular is very impressive. Choudary as the villain makes a mark. Thirtha has the talents to be an effective vamp. Tanikella Bharani and Parachuri Venkateswar Rao are good in their cameos. Suman Shetty and Venu carry themselves well. Banerjee is effective as the police officer. All others go through their motions.
The story has nothing novel in it. A shy, straightforward hero and a self-confident heroine are the trademark characterisation of Teja in most of his films. The love track is somehow not convincing. The conflict between Shiva and Bapineedu is not based on credible premise. Even the hero and heroine running away (so common in so many films, particularly those of Teja) is rather contrived. Dialogues have the marketplace flavour. Music is passable. Cinematography is good.
Neeku Naaku Dash Dash can also be written as Neeku Naaku Blank Blank as dash would denote a blank which has to be filled up. That’s what happened to the film. Director Teja forgot to fill up some vital gaps/blanks in the story, screenplay and narration. There is a love track but less of romance. There is erotica but more of sleaze. There are comic situations but less comedy. There is the chase but no thrills. In future, Teja should confine himself to direction and get good writers for the story and screenplay.
If you have time gaps to fill up, then fill the blanks in Neeku Naaku Dash Dash.
