Tollywood actor Akkineni Nagarjuna’s plans to build a mega entertainment complex at Annapurna Studios in Banjara Hills have come crashing down after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) declared that the elevation of the studio site itself was beyond permissible limits. Nagarjuna cannot take up any construction there as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has denied building permissions to the star on the basis of the AAI letter (AAI/HY/ATS/-59/NOC-2).
Nagarjuna is reported to have initially planned to build structures that were 30 meters in height at Annapurna Studios. As per rules, structures of only 15 meters height are allowed in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills. The government can relax rules in certain cases.
Nagarjuna has approached the department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) seeking relaxation of rules.
