It appears that four Indian fraudsters used the names of Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba and Hollywood star Tara Reid to defraud investors in United Arab Emirates to the tune of nine million dirhams.
Emirati businessman Ahmad Al Falasi and 11 other investors are locked in a legal battle against four Indians who allegedly swindled them.
The fraudsters promoted Santorini Development, a Greek-style cluster of apartments, villas and hotels on man-made Al Marjan Island off Ras Al Khaimah.
The men claimed that the two celebrities Minissha Lamba and Tara Reid were looking to buy property on Santorini development which prompted investors to pour in money.
However, no development took place and the 463,321 square feet of land still remains barren without any construction.
