Mary Kom is a True Star Says Bhansali and Darshan Kumar
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, one of the most creative directors of the B-town said that Mary Kom winning the first women’s boxing gold in Asian Games in Incheon is no surprise.
Bhansali. Who co-produced ‘Mary Kom’ said, “She is a true hero. I am not surprised by her victory. I expected her to bring the gold home from the Asian Games. Mary has the tenacity and the passion. These are qualities that prompted us to make a film on her life in the first place.”
‘Mary Kom’ is a biopic which is based on the journey of MC Mary Kom and the hardships she has to face. This film directed by debutant Omung Kumar featured Priyanka Chopra as Mary Kom. Darshan Kumar played the role of Mary Kom’s husband.
Darshan said, “we are all super-proud of the super-women. Congrats Mary for the wonderful victory. You’ve made India shine with your gold. I feel blessed to have been part of a film about your life.”
Mary Kom won the gold in Asian games on Wednesday in Incheon in the flyweight (48-51 Kg). She competed with Kazakhstan’s Zhaina Shekerbekova for the medal.
