Manoj Bajpayee as a Gay Professor in ‘Aligarh’

Actor Manoj Bajpayee is busy these days with his film ‘Aligarh’. In the film he is playing the role of a gay professor. The first look of the film is released and in it Manoj is seen in a pensive look wearing a formal suit and has grey hairs. ‘Aligarh’ is made by Hansal Mehta who says about his film, “We wanted the first look of Manoj’s character to be impactful and create just the right amount of curiosity amongst the audience. Manoj is a fantastic actor and he embodies the trials and tribulations that his character in the film goes through. I’m extremely happy for the way the film is turning out.”

The film is based on a real story wherein a professor is fired from his job because of his sexual orientation. As the word ‘Lesbian’ is cut out from ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, it is but obvious that ‘Aligarh’ will also experience editing by the Censor board.

For this film, the National Award-winning team of actor Raj Kummar Rao and director Hansal Mehta will work together again for the third time. Earlier they teamed up for ‘Shahid’ and ‘City Lights’. In ‘Aligarh’ Rajkummar is portraying the role of a journalist.
The film is produced jointly by Hansal Mehta, Sandeep Singh and Sunil Lulla.
