Mani Ratnam’s “Raavan” Vs SRK’s “Ra.One”

Mani Ratnam’s “Raavan” Vs SRK’s “Ra.One”

Why do Mani Ratnam’s “Raavan” and Shah Rukh Khan’s “Ra.One”have similar pronunciation? What could be the reason for this fascination of these film heavyweights with the word that sounds the same?

Then there is the Hollywood film “The Raven” starring “The Hurt Locker” fame Jeremy Renner directed by James McTeigue. However, the English film will release in 2011 and is currently in the pre production stage, thus will not clash with the Hindi films’ release dates. The film has been listed on IMDB.

In spite of their similar titles, the films are as distinct and different from each other as chalk and cheese. Mani Ratnam’s “Raavan” is apparently based on Valmiki’s ancient Sanskrit epic ‘Ramayana’ where Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays Seeta, Abhishek essays the role of villain Raavan and actor Vikram plays Ram. The film is slated to release on June 18th this year.

Shah Rukh’s Ra.One is a superhero science fiction film starring the superstar himself with Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal. SRK plays the superhero in this one and the film has just gone on floors with the shoot happening mostly in Goa and London. The film is slated to release in December this year.
