Love Failure Movie Review
Love Failure is a story of teenage love in college, the hiccups in the process and the entire romance going on rocks. The lovers, at a loss to know what went wrong, reconcile after certain incidents that come across in their lives.
Arun (Siddharth) and Parvathi (Amala Paul), students of an engineering college are deeply in love. The film opens with the break-up of their romantic liaison. Arun reminisces about the failure of his love story.
In a series of flashbacks, the blossoming of the love between Arun and Parvathi is revealed. Coming to the present, Arun is still all at sea and cannot fathom the reasons for the failure of love between him and Parvathi.
Parvathi is planning to leave for USA. But the marriage of her parents (Suresh and Surekha Vani) is in doldrums and they are on the verge of getting a divorce. There is a sub-plot where a jealous ex-lover trying to put spokes into the relationship between his former girl friend and her present boy friend.
Will Parvathi’s parents get over their differences or go through their divorce? What effect this has on Parvathi? Will Aruin ever find out what went wrong with his love affair with Parvathi? Will Arun and Parvathi ever meet or is it a love failure forever? The rest of the narration answers these questions.
Siddharth is all at ease with his role and performs admirably. Amala Paul looks gorgeous and emotes with intensity. Suresh and Surekha Vani acquit themselves well. Shyam does the rib-tickler role. Ravi and Balaji are convincing. All others are good in author backed roles.
Debutant director Balaji Mohan comes out with an innovative format of story narration. The screenplay, woven with a series of flashbacks and subplots, aids the flow of narration. Dialogues are meaningful, witty and sometimes thought provoking. Music by Thaman has nothing much to write about. Cinematography by Shah is superb. Being a small budget project, technically and production-wise, the film is not up to the mark.
Love Failure is a meaningful film made with no formula frills. The film will appeal to cine buffs and the multiplex audience. It can be seen for the novel narration style and the performances of Siddharth and Amala Paul.
