Kedi is a regular mainstream film with all routine mass masaala elements along with doses of comedy and fistful of fights.
Ramesh, a young boy who loves cricket, runs away from home as he cannot tolerate hi father (Tanikella Bharani). He is in love with his childhood friend Janaki, who wants him to get rich so that she can marry him. He takes a short cut to get rich quick through gambling.
Ramesh alias Rummy ((Nagarjuna)) keeps company with his childhood friends (Harshavardhan and Brahmanandam).
Rummy goes on conning the bad guys with loads of money. Rummy shifts his base to Goa to escape from the surveillance of ACP Shekhar Ramishetty (Sayaji Shinde). In Goa he joins with smuggler Chandra (Ankur Vikal), a smuggler. He saves foreigners Linda (Nadia) and her sister Sara (Poula) from the clutches of gangster Viktor (Kelly Dorjee). He encounters a single mother Sandhya (Mamatha Mohandas) and her son. Her association brings a change in him. Rummy working for Chandra inadvertently smuggles in an RDX package which reaches terrorists in Hyderabad.
Will Rummy save Hyderabad from terroristattack? Will he meet his childhood girl friend Janaki? Answers to these questions lead to a predictable climax.
Nagarjuna carries the entire film on his shoulders. He does his role with ease. Mamta Mohandas has a meaty role. Brahmanandam as usual makes you laugh. Sayaji Shinde, Harshavardhan and Tanikella Bharani fit their roles well. Anushka in her cameo is glamorous. Ankur Vikal is convincing. Fresh faces Linda and Poula are OK. The rest of the cast are just adequate.
The story does not have much of twists but the interest of the audience is retained by ding-dong swing to the past and present. The presentation is interesting. The dialogues are adequate. Music is above average. Being a formula film, it has nicely choreographed songs and well orchestrated fights to please the masses. Cinematography is good. Production values are high.
Kedi is a mass entertainer and is a must for the fans of Nagarjuna.
