Katrina Kaif, now a top heroine in Bollywood, was born as Katrina Turquotte in Hong Kong. Her father Mohammed Kaif is an Indian Kashmiri and mother Susanna Turquotte is English. Katrina’s parents are divorced.
From Hong Kong, Katrina and her family moved to China, then to Japan. From there she went to France and later lived for a few months at a time in Switzerland, Poland,Germany, Belgium, and other European countries. Then she moved with her family to Hawaii, and eventually to her mother’s home country of England. She lived in London only for three years before finally moving to Mumbai.
Kaif began her modeling career when she was just fourteen years old and her first assignment was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London under a contract with Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses such as La Senza and Arcadius, and even walked on the London Fashion Week.
London-based Indian filmmaker Kaizad Gustad discovered Katrina and gave her a part in his film Boom in 2003, which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Gulshan Grover.
And Katrina changed her name from Katrina Turquotte to Katrina Kaif when she decided to make a full-time career in Bollywood and landed in Mumbai.
