Karan Johar’s hat-trick with debutant directors

Film maker Karan Johar has a knack of spotting talented directors. He himself is an accomplished director with films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). He is now directing “My Name Is Khan” with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajole.

Karan produced “Dostana” with John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra which was directed by Tarun Mansukhani a first time director. The film was a big hit.

Then Dharma Productions made “Wake up Sid” by another new director Ayan Mukerji with Ranbir Kapoor which was again a hit at the box office.

Now, Rensil D’Silva writer of “Rang De Basanthi” was given the offer to direct “Kurbaan” with Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi. Insiders say that this film has all the markings of becoming a super hit.

Karan has the talent spotting ability and is very good at marketing his films.
