The Performances

Naga Chaitanya is not successful in doing justice to his role on his debut. He requires lot of improvement in emoting. Kartika is passable and her enthusiasm will help her in her career. Prakash Raj and J D Chakravarthy are convincing in their performances. Sunil and Brahmanandam turn out their rib-tickling acts quite well. All others are adequate in their roles.

The Techniques

The Story, screenplay and direction by Vasu Varma is insufficient to garner the total attention of the audience. The element of preaching and the better-than-you syndrome makes the protagonist less credible. Most of the situations are contrived. The choice of JD unnecessarily brings in memories of Nagarjuna’s Shiva. The technical departments are good but the narration suffers from the inherent pitfalls in the plot and screenplay.

The Verdict

Goldwyn of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc ( MGM studios) was once asked what message he intended to give through his movies. His reply was, “ I will send two pence telegram to send a message. Why should I spend a million dollars on a movie to send a message?”

Dil Raju may pay heed to the architect of MGM. His film’s title Josh is a misnomer and the message oriented narration is more irritating than appealing or entertaining.
