Born in New York and raised in Chelsea, London, Jiah Khan took a course in acting from Lee Strasberg’s Institute, London, before flying down to Mumbai for a career in Bollywood.
Jiah made her debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s NIshabd with Amitabh Bachchan and received rave reviews for her performance, though the film did not fare well at the box office.
Being a passionate singer, Jiah has also had formal training in classical opera. Besides acting, singing and playing the piano, she is also an extremely good dancer. She is well trained in five different types of dances, namely, Lambada, Salsa, Samba, Belly dancing and Kathak.
Jiah is now playing the role of a medical student in the Hindi remake of A.R. Murugadoss’ super hit Tamil film Ghajini. She costars with Aamir Khan and Asin. In fact, she replaced Kangana Raunat, who was originally chosen to play that role in Ghajini.
Jiah has also been signed for Sajid Khan’s Housefull, which also stars Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Ritesh Deshmukh.
