Jai Bholo Telangana Movie Review
Jai Bolo Telangana is the story of the struggle for separate statehood for Telangana duly highlighting the need for it in view of the aspirations of people.
Bandhagi Gopanna (Jagapathi Babu) calls for a revolt against the erring government and demands for a separate state for Telangana. Before his voice could reach the people he is killed. His widowed wife Jayamma (Smriti Irani) and son Varshit (Sandeep) relocate to Hyderabad where Varshit pursues his studies. He falls in love with Sahaja (Meera Nandan) who hails from Vijayawada.
When Varshit visits his native village , he finds the backwardness in the Telangana region and he understands the need for a people’s struggle to have a separate Telangana state. He is compelled to lead the agitation after his close friend commits suicide. How Varshit leads the agitation forms the rest of the story.
Jagapathi Babu is convincing in his performance. Smrithi Irani emotes well. Sandeep essays his role with confidence. Meera Nandan has talent. Gaddar appears in cameo. Nagineedu as a politician acquits himself well. Gowri Shankar, AVS and Janardhan Maharshi do well. All others are ok.
Being a docu-drama the script does not have many surprises but the incidents are woven interestingly. The dialogues are appealing. The screenplay does not help a pacy narration. Music by Chakri is good. Cinematography by T Surendra Reddy captures the rural realities. Production values are good.
Since there was no docu-drama on the Telangana agitation, the film has a freshness to it and can be seen for the efforts of producer-director N Shankar.
