Is Damarukam based on The Immortals of Meluha?

The socio-fantasy film Damarukam, starring Nagarjuna and Anushka in the lead roles, is presently conducting its shooting at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. This is said to be a Rs 30 crore budget film with major cost being that of computer graphics and special visual effects.

Though the storyline is not yet announced publicly, the title gives a clue that the film may relate to Lord Shiva. There are also reports that Damurakam is loosely based on Amish Tripathi’s best-selling debut novel The Immortals of Meluha. In fact, Karan Johar of Dharma Productions has officially bought the Hindi film making rights of this book.

The film is being produced by Venkat under the banner of RR Movie Makers and directed by Srinivasa Reddy. Music has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
