The third edition of reality show Big Boss 3 is being aired by Colors TV which is hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. In this show 13 celebrities are locked in a house for 84 days and monitored round-the-clock by 40 cameras. Viewers choose to expel some participants and the final winner is chosen at the end of the programme.
Recently, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, issued a show cause notice to the channel saying the reality show Big Boss 3 has offending good taste and decency because of the use of vulgar language by the participants which is not suitable for unrestricted public exhibition.
The notice says the language used by some participants is abusive and the show contains visuals which appear to be obscene and violate the government’s TV programme code.
The Ministry of I&B, GoI, has asked Colors TV channel not to carry content on the show that constitutes a violation of the programme code as constituted in the Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Act 1995, failing which the Big Boss 3 will be taken off the air.
