The Film Federation of India has chosen Salim Ahamed’s Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu as India’s official entry for Oscars. The film is a family drama about an elderly Muslim couple, who struggles to find money to fulfill their dream of going on pilgrimage to Haj.
Produced and directed by Salim Ahamed, the film was chosen as the Best Feature Film atthe 58th National Film Awards for 2010. The film also won three other National awards for Best Actor, Best Cinematography and Best Music Direction ( Background Score).
It is said that the jury of the 58th National Film Awards, headed by J.P. Dutta, had recommended that movie that wins the top award should be India’s official entry at the Oscars every year.
