I&B Ministry slams MTV channel for vulgarity

The I&B Ministry of the Union Government has directed MTV to apologise for use of vulgar and abusive words and gestures on its programme “MTV Roadies II”. The Ministry asked the MTV music channel to run a scroll round the clock between July 3-6 apologising for the usage of vugar and abusive language.

This is not the first occasion when the MTV music channel has run into trouble with the I&B Ministry. In 2005, the channel was issued a show-cause notice for airing risque music videos like “Kanta laga”, “Chadti jawani” and “Meri beri ke ber”.

In 2008, the MTV music channel was slammed by the central I&B Ministry for airing an Ad for “Axe” brand deodorant that was considered as obscene and unfit for viewing by general public.

However, with each controversy, the MTV music channel is becoming more popular.
