Hollywood turns harsh on Bollywood copying its films

It is common knowledge that Bollywood freely lifts plots from Hollywood films and make blockbuster Hindi movies. But things are not going to be the same.

India’s premier production house B R Films made film titled “Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai” with Govinda, Tabu and Lara Dutta. Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox filed a case in the Mumbai High Court that this film is a copy of their 1992 Oscar winning film, “My Cousin Vinny”.

As the Hollywood studio is likely to win the case of plagiarism, Ravi Chopra of B R Films is reported to have agreed for an out of the court settlement for an undisclosed amount.

With the decks of litigation cleared, “Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai” is getting ready for release in October.
In future, film makers like Ram Gopal Varma, Anees Bazmee and others should be more careful and not unauthorised copying of Hollywood films.
