Hindutva activists attack theatres screening Delhi Belly

aamir khan’s Delhi Belly, which is being touted as the biggest hit at the box office in the second half of this year, is now facing the ire of the members of a pro-Hindutva organization, Jago Hind Sangathan, who on Monday ransacked a theatre, Anoop Talkies in the MIG area of Indore and tried to stop the screening of Delhi Belly over the alleged use of expletives in the movie. Chairs, glass doors and posters at the cinema were damaged.
Earlier, the Jago Hind Sangathan activists protested against the film in front of a multiplex in Indore and torched posters, warning of violence if screenings were not stopped. The organisation alleges that the film’s dialogues are “vulgar” and “set a bad example” for the youth.
The police have arrested twenty members of Jago Hind Sangathan for the vandalism on the cinema theatres. Jago Hind Sangathan plans to approach the courts seeking a ban on the screening of Delhi Belly as the film is belittling Hindu culture and traditions.
