Acclaimed Telugu film director and twice National Award winner is celebrating his 47th birthday today.
Krishna Vamsi. was born in Tadepalligudem as Venkata Bangaaru Raju and he later canged his name as Krishna Vamsi. He did his BSc. in Tadepalligudem and M.A. in Agricultural Economics from Agra University. He then entered the film industry and started as a camera assistant, assistant to the editor and assistant director. He assisted Ram Gopal Varma also.
Krishna Vamsi made his directorial debut with “Gulabi” with JD Chakravarthi and Maheshwari which was well received. He established his own film production house Andhra Talkies in 1997.
So far, Krishna Vamsi directed 15 films and at present he is directing “Mahatma” which happens to be actor Srikanth’s 100th film. His best known films include “Ninne Pelladatha”, “Sinduram”, “Anthapuram”, “Khadgam”, “Murari” and “Chandamama”.
Krishna Vamsi is credited with giving unique roles to actors like Jagapathi Babu and Srikanth. He has introduced Ravi Teja to the screen. His films have won 29 Nandi Awards, one Filmfare Award and two National Awards.
Krishna Vamsi is married to actress Ramya Krishna and they have a son named Ritwik.
