Siddharth Suryanarayan was born on April 17, 1979 in Chennai. Today he is a film actor, playback singer and screenplay writer. After his business management studies, Siddharth chose to work in film making and worked as assistant director before making his debut in Shankar’s “Boys”.
Siddharth studied at DAV Boys’ Senior Secondary School, Chennai and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Delhi. He got his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from Kirori Mal College, New Delhi. Siddharth was part of the reputed theatre group of the college The Players. He was also president of the college’s debating society and attended the World Debating Championships. He completed his MBA in 2001 from S.P Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. In 2006, he divorced his wife Meghna.
Siddharth worked on Mani Ratnam’s “Aayutha Ezhuthu” in 2004 which was dubbed from Tamil into Telugu with the title “Yuva”. He worked with Prabhu Deva in the film “Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana” that gave his first Filmfare Best Actor award. In 2005, Siddharth wrote the screenplay for his Telugu film “Chukkallo Chandrudu” directed by Siva Kumar. He was also a playback singer for the film.
Siddharth made his Bollywood debut in “Rang De Basanti” co-starring with Aamir Khan. Siddharth received the Star Screen Debut Award for his role as Karan Singhania in this film. His Telugu film “Bommarillu” received critical acclaim and was a hit at the box office. He worked with director Vishal Bhardwaj and Oscar winning cinematographer Guillermo Navarro on a short film titled “Blood Brothers” which was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
