Film on Sonia Gandhi cleared for screening by court
A film titled Sonia, based on the life and times of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, was produced by Montage International and Das Entertainment in 2005 and directed by T D Kumar will finally be released after the film-makers won a two year long legal battle against the censor board in the high court of Mumbai.
The producers of Sonia had moved Bombay High court against the censor board ruling asking them to seek personal approval of Sonia Gandhi before release of the film. The High Court ruled that there was no provision for personal approval under the Cinematograph Act. The censor board has finally cleared the film with minor cuts.
The producers are planning to release the film on December 9, which happens to be the birthday of Sonia Gandhi.
