Dhoom director Sanjay Gadhvi was the first guest lecturer for the course `Introduction to Contemporary Film Industry’ introduced at IIM-A this year. Gadhvi arrived on Thursday and is to take three classes with students. The course has met an overwhelming response with 86 students registering for it. It was initiated and conducted by Tejas Desai, faculty at IIM-A as an elective to second year students of postgraduate programme in their last term at the institute. Other Bollywood celebrities who have shown interest but are yet to confirm include Aamir Khan and filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar.
Gadhvi’s family hails from Rajsitapur village His father, Manubhai Gadhvi, is a Gujarati film producer and promoter of Gujarati folk literature. At the age of eight, Gadhvi decided that he was going to be a filmmaker.
About the possible connection with business schools, Gadvi says that film industry is becoming extremely corporatised and this change is opening avenues for a lot of managers. It is like any other industry and rules of management apply in the film industry also
