Emraan Hashmi alleges religious bias in house allotment
Bollywoosd actor Emraan Hashmi, who earned the sobriquet of “serial kisser” accused a housing society in posh Bandr in Mumbai of “religious discrimination” saying that it denied him the NOC to purchase a flat in the building because he is a Muslim.
Hashmi said he wanted to buy a house in the posh Pali Hill but the Nibbana cooperative housing society refused to give him the No Objection Certificate because of his religion.
The actor, a protégé of Mahesh Bhatt, said he has approached the State Minorities Commission, seeking its intervention on the issue.
Hashmi said he has been asked to get a character certificated by the State Minorities Commission.
Earlier, actress Shabana Azmi, wife of lyric and screenplay writer Javed Akhtar, also alleged similar “religious discrimination” while she was trying to buy a house in Mumbai.
