Drona Review a wasted extravaganza with a weak storyline
The Cast and Crew
Director: Goldie Behl
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon
Drona is reportedly made with a budget of Rs 90 Crores and insured for Rs 50 Crores. But a weak story and a weaker screenplay makes this film a wasted extravaganza.
However Drona can be sent to Film Festivals in the category of Children’s Films.
An orphan Aditya (Abhishek Bachchan) is led by a magical blue rose petal leads him to an ancient bracelet
which he wears on his wrist.
Riz Raizada (Kay Kay Menon) a descendant of the Demons is looking for the magic potion which gives him power to rule the world.
To fullfil his wish he will have to kill Drona, the descendent of Gods.
Riz recognizes Aditya as Drona because of the bracelet. Sonia (Priyanka Chopra) comes to assist Drona and makes him realize his real identity.
Then the war between good and evil begins.
Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra looked out of place because of poorly etched characters.
Kay Kay Menon is more like a tottering comedian than an evil villain.
There is no scope for any actor to perform because of illogically created sequences.
Goldie Behl has forgotten that mind-bogling special effects will be applauded only when there is an appealing story and an equally appropriate screenplay.
Technically the film is well made with good production values, but they all look like costly ornaments worn by an Egyptian mummy’
Drona is eminently avoidable.
Children may like this comic strip like super hero film.
