Dhobi Ghat gets standing ovation at Toronto film fest

Kiran Rao’s directorial debut Dhobi Ghat has been screened on the first day of Totronto International film festival. The Elgin Theatre was houseful for the screening. The cosmopolitan audience gave a standing ovation after the show.

The event was attended by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, Prateik Babbar, Monica Dogra and Kriti Malhotra who were received by co-director of the festival and selector of Indian films, Cameron Bailey.

At the press conference, Kiran explained that the film was her elegiac tribute to Mumbai, a city which had given and taught her so much in the decade-long formative years she had spent in it.
