Delhi Belly which has been in news for the last few months– for all good and bad reasons– is once again in news. Most of the objections that the Bollywood flick has faced were regarding the peculiar language used by the characters in this film. As the dialogues of the film are too abhorrent to be listened by children, the television version of the film will have diluted dialogues. Delhi Belly is to undergo re-dubbing to be premiered on TV in near future. All the cuss words, which were used in the film will be cut so that women and children can watch the film.
The actors of the film, Imran Khan, Vir Das, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Poorna Jagannathan, Shehnaz Treasurywala have already dubbed their lines for the TV version. “You can keep a check on audiences when they visit theatres. But can you hold back kids from watching a film when it’s aired on TV? That’s why we decided to go easy on the dialogue of the film and get them dubbed all over again.”, said Director Abhinay Deo.
Deo also revealed that actor producer Aamir was very keen on dubbing this Hinglish film into four Indian languages, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bhojpuri. While Delhi Belly was dubbed in Hindi, the plans to dub it in Tamil and Telugu was aborted as Aamir’s friends associated with the South industry reasoned that the Hinglish version is enough for the viewers. However, “the plans of not dubbing the film in Bhojpuri remains a mystery,” Abhinay states.
