Court notice to Madhur Bhandarkar in sexual exploitation case

A magistrate court has issued a notice to film maker Madhur Bhandarkar in a case which is in legal wrangles since last seven years.

Preeti Jain has filed a case against Madhur in 2004 alleging that he sexually abused her on false promises of marriage and roles in his movies. On 22nd July 2004, she filed a complaint with the police alleging Madhur of raping her, for which he was granted bail in the session court which was upheld by the Hon’ble High Court. However, The Versova police has investigated this case twice, by two different officers and came to the conclusion that there is no case against the director.

Preeti continued to pursue her case in the lower courts and the magistrate court has now sent notice to Madhur, who is preparing to seek legal remedies in the higher courts.
