Since a couple of years, Bollywood top stars stopped taking fee for big budget films and films by big production houses. They are only getting a share in the profits.
This arrangement has cut down the cost of production and if the film becomes a big hit, the actor’s share will be much more than the fee he actually charges. However, they still charge moderate fees for medium budget films.
Aamir Khan and Salman Khan share profits for their YRF films Dhoom 3 and Ek Tha Tiger. Similarly, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal get profit share for their roles in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine.
Other Bollywood biggies like Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor are also following suit.
