Bollywood producers on strike : No film releases from Today
New Hindi films will not be released in the country from Saturday onwards as Bollywood film producers began their indefinite strike after talks over revenue-sharing with multiplex owners failed.
The producers are demanding 50:50 share in ticket sales from the multiplex owners and the latter want performance-based revenue-sharing.
Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt, president of the United Producers Distributors Forum confirmed the strike by producers who will not release any new film until the dispute is resolved..
Producers, distributors and exhibitors stand to lose about Rs 100 to 200 crore and may go even up to Rs 500 crore because of this standoff.
