According to Film Trade analysts, Abbas-Mustan’s Race was the top grosser of the year so far. This film was a good thriller, with a lot of action and twists and starred stunning beauties like Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy.
Emraan Hashmi’s Jannat came second on the hit list. Audiences seemed to love his boy-next-door appeal in the film. Besides, the film had a gripping second half, and a good climax.
Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical love story, Jodhaa Akbar, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made a decent moolah at the box-office, but did not gross up to expectations.
Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar Raj, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had a good story, great performances and excellent cinematography that worked for the audience.
Even though the film did not feature big stars, the Pakistani low-budget film, Khuda Kay Liye, did well at the Indian box office.
Film Trade analysts seem to bet on films like Pokhiri, Ghajini, Singh Is Kinng and Rab Ne Bana De Jodi to become hits at the box-office this year.
