Big B used the styles of real life dons in films

Amitabh Bachchan, who again played a don in his latest film Puri Jagannath’s Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap, has said that he tried to enact the styles of real life dons in some of the memorable roles he has played.

Big B said that his famous dialogue in Agneepath ‘Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, poora naam. Baap ka naam…” is actually modeled on the way the erstwhile Bombay don Vardarajan Mudaliar used to actually speak. Amitabh said he had a chance to observe Varadarajan and his mannerisms and employed the same in the film.

In the film Deewar, Big B tried the style of another Bombay don Haji Mastan. His role in the film is modeled on Mastan who was also a worker in the dicks. The actor said that he had an opportunity to observe Mastan at close quarters at the Mahalaxmi Race Course.

Whether Amitabh imitated real life dons or not, he remains the iconic don on the screen.
