Megastar Amitabh Bachchan who is busy shooting with his upcoming film ‘Piku’ in Kolkata, prefers to have conversation in Bengali with director Shoojit Sircar on the sets. The actor had spent seven years of his life.
Shoojit said, “He is a kid on the sets. He converses with us in Bengali. If you present him with an idea, something of substance and importance, he will believe it”.
The director, who is also a Bengali, said he is glad that Mr Bachchan knows his mother-tongue.
Before shifting to Mumbai to join Bollywood the actor had lived in Kolkata during 1962-69. Since then he has worked with a number of Bengali film directors like Shakti Samanta, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Rituparno Ghosh.
Big B had delivered his speech with an impressive smattering of Bengali during the opening ceremony of recently held Kolkata International Film Festival.
The actor also lent his voice to the inspirational song ‘Ekla Chalo Re’ by Rabindranath Tagore in Bengali for Vidya Balan’s film ‘Kahaani’. On Monday evening Big B also launched the first look of Bengali film ‘Open Tee Bioscope’ which is co-produced by Shoojit
