Justice R Subhash Reddy of Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday stayed the release of the Telugu film Sorry Teacher, stating that filmmakers cannot depict the sacred teacher-student relationship in an irresponsible manner.
The film originally titled I Love You Teacher is directed by Sri Satya and stars Aryaman and Kavya Singh in the lead roles. Objected to by women’s organisations, the title was changed to Sorry Teacher.
The censor board has awarded a U/A rating to the film. But the women teacher associations moved high court seeking a stay on its release over allegations of objectionable content. The judge, after hearing both petitioners and the censor board, had said he would first watch the film to decide whether it was trying to convey any larger message.
In his interim order of stay on the film, the judge said that the movie held no meaningful message for society.
