Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has been made an honorary citizen of Bosnia after drawing attention to the region with her directorial debut with the film In the Land of Blood and Honey. She co-scripted the movie.
The film focused on a romance between a Serbian soldier and a Bosnian woman during the 1990s war in the troubled area.
The Government of Bosnia has appreciated Jolie for her contribution to the preservation of truth about the war in Sarajevo and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and her dedication to protection of the principles of humanity, democracy, tolerance, and solidarity between people of different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
Jolie will be conferred with the honorary citizenship of Bosnia at a ceremony to be held on May 3 at Sarajevo.
