Akshay Kumar Has A Gujarathi Connection

Actor-producer akshay kumar is a Punjabi and is born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia in Amritsar, Punjab. But, he has a weakness for Gujarat and Gujaratis. About 80 % of his staff are Gujaratis.

Moreover, his upcoming film OMG Oh My God is based on Paresh Rawal’s Gujarati play Kanji Virrudh Kanji. His film Aankhein (2002), has been inspired by director Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Gujarati play Andhalo Pato. Even his 2005 hit Waqt – Race Against Time has been an adaptation of a play in the same language. His film Action Replayy also is an adaptation of a Gujarati play.

Akshay is now getting a Marathi connection as he is producing a Marathi film titled 72 Mail which is based on a novel by Ashok Vhatkar. The film has been directed by Rajiv Patil, whose movie Jogwa won the National Award in 2009. 72 Mail is about the journey of a 13-year-old boy who walked from Satara to Kolhapur in Maharashtra in 1960.
