Our readers might be ware of our earlier article on an upcoming film on the sensational case of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian convict in Pakistan, who had been jailed for almost two decades and was finally killed in a fight inside the jail, at a time when his mercy petition was pending. The case received much national and international attention due to the efforts of his sister Dalbir Kaur to get him released, but finally had a tragic ending just at a time when he was about to be set free.
A film on Sarabjit is being planned by Omung Kumar, who had earlier directed the hit biopic on Mary Kom. It’s just reported that Aishwarya Rai had agreed to play the role of Dalbir Kaur in the movie, and the actress was tear eyed when she heard the narration and immediately agreed to act in the role. The film is expected to be launched shortly and further details are awaited. Omung was looking for a powerful screen presence for the role of Dalbir, and Aishwarya did match the expectations.
